National Snack Food Month: A Guide to Incorporating More Superfoods
February isn’t just for lovers. Whether you’re already cuffed or ready to mingle, February, aka National Snack Food Month, is something we can all get behind.
We’re kicking off the month by sharing 3 fool-proof ways to incorporate more superfoods into your daily snacks- and yes, we mean daily. In 2018, NPD Group reported that Americans ate an estimated 386 billion ready-to-eat snack foods over the course of the year. That's over 1 billion snacks each day. So what are those fool-proof, superfood snacking ways? Let’s get snacking:
Smoothies are one of the easiest and most delicious ways to sneak superfoods into your diet. We recommend packing your post-workout or afternoon pick-me-up smoothie with our favorite leafy green superfood- kale. Kale is one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. With one cup of kale packing in 206% of Vitamin A and 134% of Vitamin C recommended daily value, your body will indeed thank you. Psstt.. excellent flavor combos are kale-apple-mango, or classic peanut butter-banana with added kale.
Granola (our favorite here) is a nutritious and versatile snack that allows you to pack in healthy grains and nuts such as oats and almonds- keeping you full and energized all day long. For an even more filling snack, we recommend enjoying granola with a gut-friendly probiotic yogurt, tossed on top of a kale-filled smoothie bowl, or even incorporated into a salad- yes, even a salad.
3. Snack Bars & Bites
Looking for a way to pack in superfoods without having to clean dishes? We recommend plant-based snack bars and bites for days where you’re on-the-go or running short on time.
At Impact Snacks, each of our plant-based bars is packed with superfoods like lion’s mane, kale, and maca root. The best part? You can’t even taste the superfoods, thanks to our delicious flavors. Bonus- pay attention to the functional ingredients and the sustainability initiatives of a brand the next time you pick up a snack bar- we promise you’ll thank us for it.
